Wow. So correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that already, not more than a day or two after its profile was created, Neon Genesis: Evangelion is about to boot out Daria for fifth best TV series (if not officially than just by comparing their ratings), or maybe even a higher position in the Top 5. This must be a new record of some kind.
I have to admit I thought NGE was already on this site before I noticed its profile had just been added. There are a few other anime series that I think belong on this site (whether or not I like them personally), such as Trigun, Samurai Champloo, Nadesico, Tenshi, and others. But obviously these are no more important than the scores of other animations waiting to be added. Still, I almost want to volunteer for the position of Anime Editor just to help out, even though I know I'm probably not the best candidate and I probably don't have the time for it.
Anyway, just some random thoughts.
(Edited when I realized the series still needs one more review to get on a top 5 list)

I suspect Daria is only in the top 5 because there isn't a number 6, or very few above that, based pn the fact that at least two people gave it 1 or 1.5 stars. It would be in the bottom 5 as well, I presume.
Which raises a question: how many votes does something have to get to qualify for the bottom five if there aren't enough TV series for a bottom 5? Is it because it would be the same 5 as the top 5?

Daria deserves to be booted off, but I was hoping by something else other than NGE. We either need more junky cartoons or more good cartoons to separate the two lists.
I need to add Samurai Champloo. Now that's one of the few animes that doesn't give me a headache.

I reckon we're going to draw a lot of ire, but it looks like NGE is already earning the title "most overrated anime" around these parts. We'll have to see. I'll stick with Mysterious Cities of Gold and Spartakus and the Sun Beneath Sea any day of the week. :D

hey, we'd love to have you... and it's not like *I* have time for this site most weeks. ;)
Also, if there's nothing stopping us from having more than one Anime Editor... my feeling is that the more people we have around adding content, the less pressure there is on each individual editor.

It is 5 votes, but I believe I also put in that the profile had to have an overall rating of 2 stars or less... hmm, probably should've done the reverse for the Top 5 now that I think about it.

Actually, if it gets one more 4 star review, it'll jump into the list at #3.

hehe, see... site activity is a good thing. ;)
Although really, sometimes I'm not sure if the Top 5 equation works as well as it should... it's actually easier to jump into the list with 5 reviews than it is to hold a spot if you've got 15. A number of times I've seen a film pop in at #1 because it's had 5 reviews of 4 stars and then drop off as more people add their reviews. The list is weighted so that if you have two profiles with the same star-rating the one with the higher number of reviews takes precedence... but that still leaves room for any of these ones with few reviews to pop into the list fairly easily... I suppose that just means the list won't firm up until all of the Top 5 have more than 5 reviews.

Just that a smaller sample is far more open to distortion. Like when we had a plague of Daria fans descend on us because I trashed it, and they all wrote 4 star reviews. If there had already been 15 reviews up, it wouldn't have made that much difference.
Also the first people who review films are generally going to be the fans. Later-comers are more likely to include less dedicated followers. e.g. Balto used to be right up near the top, but by the time it became one of the most reviewed films it had slid out of the top 5. Same with Incredibles. Same with Lion King, from memory. I suspect this would happen with anything.

Could someone direct me to a couple good images for this profile? I did a Google Image search and came up with dozens and dozens... everything from bare-breasted women to flying robots. I was going to rent the first volume but it was out this week. (I did rent Gun Smith Cats and Appleseed however).
Anyways... something featuring the main character(s) and gives a good sense of the series.
(and no bare-breasted women please. ;) )

First of all, here are links to a few pics I googled:

If those didn't do the trick, here's a site with what must be hundreds more:

Second of all:

In that case, I'll volunteer to be an Anime Editor. Why not, after all? I've seen most of the more popular animes and a couple lesser-known ones, and maybe it will encourage me to rent some more.

This can be a good thing, too. Avatar: The Last Airbender seems to have joined the list on account of a surge of fan reviews, not unlike Daria as Loop mentioned. If a larger number of good reviews was a requirement to get into the list, it's possible that all the nominees would be like that...and, in my opinion, the profiles that have fewer reviews were criticized with less bias than those that were exposed to a stream of fans. Although, to the credit of Daria and Avatar, there is something to be said for a show with that kind of a devoted fanbase.

SOLD! Welcome to our happy editorial family. ;)
Would you prefer the user title of 'Anime Editor' or 'Animation Editor'--the difference is purely aesthetic, you'll have the same editorial powers regardless.
Speaking of which, I'll go see about digging up the admin instructions I made up for Toonboy.
And thanks for the pics. Do you have some kind of graphics software for cropping pics for your profile additions?

Great! Glad to be a part of the family. :)
As far as the title, 'Anime Editor' is fine, if you don't mind. And I do have graphics software for cropping and cleaning up pics, specifically Adobe Photoshop Elements, so I'm not worried about that.
Anyway, thanks for the promotion / new title / whatever you might call this.

hehe. don't thank me too quick, you haven't seen the admin instructions yet... ;)
Keyframe's animated profile system is a custom beast that I built from scratch... I do development on websites everyday, but nothing at work on comes close to its complexity... it's a smart system but, as I said on my instruction sheet, it can be a little daunting when you start out.
If you need any help, just let me know. :)

Sounds interesting from what I've read, but I can't seem to log into the admin page, at least not using my Keyframe name and password.

Okay, I just sent you an email with a password combo to try. I wasn't sure if in the recent updates the programmer got rid of that login or not.
