So, for those who were requesting it, the profile for the TV series Lupin III (http://keyframeonline.com/Animation/Lupin_III/524/) is now up.

I actually started doing it as three profiles, but I ended up doing it as a single profile for the three TV series. My feeling was that too little time elapsed between the three series and too many of the same people were involved. To me, splitting something like Astroboy up into three series makes sense because there's 20 years between them... different cast, different production companies, different production values... while at the other end of the spectrum you have something like Family Guy (http://keyframeonline.com/Animation/Family_Guy/470/) which was cancelled and then resurrected a few years later. We can talk about the greater earlier years or lesser later years of Family Guy, but overall it's the same show... and, more importantly, we review it as one show.

Anyways, it's not too late to split it back into three, so let me know what you guys think... the only thing of Lupin I've seen is Castle of Cagiostro (http://www.keyframeonline.com/Animation/The_Castle_of_Cagliostro/300/) so I really don't know how much the TV series changed over the years.

I think I would be inclined to leave it at one, but I think there's still a good argument for splitting into three. Miyazaki directed most of the first series but none of the others except for a few episodes, and he directed 'Castle of Cagliostro'; the later series were more comic and less dark in tone, and the gap is really quite substantial. I would have said it was way more similar to Astro than to Family Guy in that respect, however I also think it's possible to cover the series seperately in one review if you want to. I'm fairly ok with it as is. You might prefer one series to another, but then again you might prefer one season or seasons of The Simpsons to the others. I haven't seen all of it - none of the third series at all - so can't really comment on how much that one differs.

I think you really should split these into three, Athena. There are extreme differences between all three of them. As a Lupin III fan, I definetly know. The first one was quite serious, the second one was a bit more light hearted, and the third one was completetly slapstick.

Is there anything significantly different that I can mention in the synopsis for each of the three just to differentiate them? I kept trying to find a good plot summary for each, but essentially it boils down the same thing...

I reccomend that you summerize them according to the atmosphere surrounding them. The first series was more serious and dramatic, with Lupin and the gang more willing to kill and a bit less wacky. The secound one expanded the show to all parts of the world and the characters were a bit more light hearted. The third one is like the secound but it completely relied on slapstick and weirder stories.

Well, I took a crack at writing the summaries for the three series but if you have any better stuff you want to throw in I'd more than welcome it.

It was about 1 and 2 but more about 1. When I watch more of 2 I'll add a review for that.

Does anyone know which series of Lupin III has been playing on Adult Swim lately, or is it a mixture of all of them? Whichever one that is, I can probably write a review for it.

Your summaries pretty much hit the nail on the head.
