I was procrastinating yesterday and did up a sketch of a character from a novel I'm currently writing.

Ever since I began watching Avatar: The Last Airbender I've been impressed with the fighting sequences and wanted to see what I could do using them as reference. I used Zuko's posing as the model for this one, from a first season episode called 'The Blue Spirit'--contains probably my favourite fight sequence so far in the series.

Still a little rough... I'm not sure if it comes off as though he's lopping off his own head.

Cool, with the exaggerated perspective...since you ask, no, I don't think it looks like he's giving himself the ultimate haircut. :p

Mm, the exaggerated perspective is exactly why I need pose reference when I do something like this... I just don't have the drawing skill to pull it out of my head.

Don't mean to be a wet blanket but think about his silhouette. The sword behind his back needs to be more visible, so it doesn't look like he is stabbing himself. Maybe have it higher, like in a striking pose.
