I wanted to ask Pat2 (who gave this series a very much less flattering review than I did) whether he could tell if the copy he has is the original voice cast, or if it's been dubbed (I'm assuming you're in the US and you have the US version). This would make a big difference, because the voice characterisations are a large part of what's memorable about the series to me.

I don't suppose there's any surefire way to tell if you have the Australian version, because apart from Arthur (voiced by John Meillon, who played Mick Dundee's best mate in Crocodile Dundee), and who comes closest to an Australian accent, most of the other actors put on faux-British accents (it was set in England, after all).

HOWEVER, if there is a trace of an American accent in any of the major characters, then it's definately a dubbed version. I have long wondered if the US version was dubbed, as, for instance, 'Animals of Farthing Wood' was.

One other possible giveaway to the Australian version is that in the original 1966 version, whoever played Sir Lancelot (or was it Galahad? Well, one of them) has a vocal mannerism where he draws out and exaggerates the 's' sound - especially noticeable when he says 'Sire'. It sounds like the whistling noise someone gets by blowing air through a chipped tooth.
