It uses Disney Movie Formula B--spoiled brat loses everything, takes time out to build character, and gets everything back plus more. Lightning McQueen is a race car on his way to California for a chamopionship race, when he accidentlay ends up stuck in a small rural town.

The movie you're thinking of is Doc Hollywood (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101745)... and it's almost a direct copy, right down to the cranky mentor and the burning desire to go to California.

All the same, I did enjoy the movie a lot.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, I see you mentioned it in your review! (Duh!) I've stopped reading before I review, because I just end up feeling like there's nothing new to say...
