Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue, Millenium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers and Paranoia Agent) is doing another movie, called Paprika. There's a trailer out, in WMV (mms://agency2wm.fplive.net/agency/2/2/intl/japan/film/paprika/paprika_high.wmv) and Realplayer (rtsp://agency2rm.fplive.net/agency/2/2/intl/japan/film/paprika/paprika_high.rm). Apparently it's based on a Japanese sci-fi novel.

Next is an indie film named We are the Strange. From Cartoon Brew:

We are the Strange (http://www.wearethestrange.com/trailer.html) is an independent animated feature film about "two outcasts caught in the middle of a deadly battle between bizarre monsters on their way to the ice cream shop". The trailer is a bizarre combination of Brother Quay-like stop motion, CG and anime, and well worth checking out. It was created by someone called M dot Strange. Video game producer Shane Neville just posted an interview with Mr. dot Strange, on his webblog (http://www.shaneneville.com/2006/07/17/diy-media-mdotstrange-str8nime-we-are-the-strange/).

I've been waiting *forever* for MDot to finish "We are the Strange" (trailer on Youtube). I think he's finally done now but still no hint on how to get my hands on a copy...though it's coming to some film festival...some filme festival much too far away ;_;

I've got plans to see Paprika, though, unless MSN has told me dirty, dirty, lies it should be out May 25.

Both look awesome!

I couldn't get the Paprika links to work, and the Apple.com trailer site made my Quicktime malfunction...for anyone else who's having problems, here's another link:

Actually, the movie web site says that it will open in NY City on May 25th and open in Los Angeles on June 1st. No word on where else it will be playing (or when).

Another trailer (an English version) can be found at http://www.sonyclassics.com/paprika/
