Kimba the White Lion is finally getting a proper release in November, as an 11 DVD boxed set of all 52 episodes, in correct running order, with the original 1966 voice track .This is the first time it's ever been released thus on DVD. There were some versions of the 1993 Canadian redub around up till now. This has been released already in Australia, and it's pretty much perfect apart from the annoying box design. People have waited decades for this. Link to the US version on the news section at kimbawlion.com.

I have yet to watch those. I saw one version on DVD a few months ago. I forgot what it was called. Ithink it was different from the series though.

The 1993 re-dub is awful. It has a lousy voice cast and terrible music. That's the opinion of everyone who remembered the original version. Some people only remember the 1990's dub and prefer that, but AFAIC that's just rubbish. To confuse matters further, there's also 'Leo the Lion' which is the sequel series, floating about in various forms. That's better than the redub of Kimba, but still nowhere near the magic of the orginal series. Tezuka went ahead and made 'Leo' without checking it with the American network. When they saw how dark and violent it was, they refused to buy it. Ironically it ended up being released in the US by a Christian video group, as I recall.
And then there's Jungle Emperor Leo, which is a movie based on the Leo the Lion series, and another series of tapes released in the US as 'Kimba the White Lion' which is actually a late 90's Japanese series which is supposed to be a 'further adventures' of Kimba (and which is supposed to be unrelentingly violent and depressing), and even a telemovie called 'Symphonic Poem' which I have here on VHS somewhere.
But anyway, these DVDs are the original KIMBA from 1966, and really, you don't want to start with anything else. It's better than all the rest of them put together.

Ooh! Kimba . . . . .
I wish I had enough money to buy it, because I would.
But if this is the original 1966 version of the dub, it's the edited version.
I don't like edited things really. But I don't think that would really stop me from buying it.
Awesome news!
*slightly off-topic* I went to Wal-Mart and got a DVD of a couple of episodes of Kimba the White Lion for only a dollar! I don't know which dub it is though, but I'll watch it and figure it out.
