Personally, I am black and I was not offended by this cartoon at all, I just found it hilarous.

At least it doesn't have Whoopi Goldberg 'putting it in a historical context', like she apparently does on WB Golden Collection vol 3.
Interesting, your comments. I'm thinking of 'Coonskin' which was largely shut down by white liberals, even though it had the support of some core black groups who could see what it was really about.

Thankfully you can skip Whoopi Goldberg's speeches about how bad we use to be and how times have changed.
However, Leonard Maltin's speech on Donald's wartime shorts on Donald vol.2 is unskippable, so you have to watch through it everytime you want to watch something like Der Feuher's Face etc: do just make a cup of coffee while he yaks away.
Of course those war time shorts were designed to invoke bad feelings, hatred even, over the then enemy. Here, in this short, there just just doesn't seem to the malice that people think there is (presumably without watching it first). Even that or I'm blind to it.
The censored eleven cartoons seemed to be censored just on the fact that they contain stylistic portrayals of black people and thus must be racist in some way.

I always skip that crap.

There is no need to be offended, people forget that this a cartoon and everyone looks funny, white or black.Look at this cartoon and look at any other cartoon featuring Yosemite Sam or Elmer Fudd, are they any smarter or better looking ? no. We need to learn how to laugh again, especially at our selves.

That's very true, I found out Barry White himself did a voice for "Coonskin" and the "Wu Tang Clan", a rap group, loves this film.

From interview with Underground Online
UGO: I read you met with the Wu-Tang Clan recently.
RALPH: Yes, they were a lot of fun. They want to do Coonskin 2. Rappers love Coonskin because it's pretty much early rap with the poems and attitude. I walked into a meeting with the Wu-Tang Clan and two of the guys got up and recited Coonskin in its entirety. I've spoken to [Coonskin producer] Al Ruddy, who just won an Oscar for Million Dollar Baby. Albert says he'd love to do it and I'd love to do it with the Wu-Tang Clan. We've left it with the agents, who will probably kill it, but let's hope for the best.
