Any predictions for this one?

I admit, the trailers don't really grab me... but I have this sort of morbid curiousity to see if this is going to be the first bad Pixar movie... on the other hand, part of me wonders if you can pull off talking cars, maybe you really can do a story about anything...

I’ve been wondering about localization, about how well this will do in countries were NASCAR isn’t as popular or known; like here in the UK.

Doesn't Cars have Larry the Cable Guy? Hmm... * imagines Mater zipping down the road yelling " Git R done!" ( note: I don't really approved of his humor myself ;) ) * ... I need a ' disturbed' emote.

I seem to remember seeing a lot of 'Dag-Gun!' in the trailers. What's "Git R done" in reference to? I'm afraid Larry's a little out of my pop culture stream.

I need a ' disturbed' emote.
how about... :yuck: ?
hehe, you'd think with all the smileys in our collection we'd have one...

I actually think the newest trailer looks really good. I think we should trust Mr. Lasseter on this one. He's never let us down before.

The teasers make it look dumb but with the newest trailer it looks ok. I'm not sure if I want to spend $7 to see it in theaters though, so this one might be a good rental. XD

It seems hard to identify with a car, no motter how well the expressions are done.. nothing about it GRABS me..

but then, pixar stuff rarely does... I end up watching them on someone else's urging, and liking them..

not being blown away, but liking them.. I'm guessing this one will end up the same for me..

I've read that the Cars trailers are not reliable and that the actual movie is actually VERY good.

Right now it has 73% over at RottenTomatoes

That seems low for a Pixar movie... when I checked Rotten Tomatoes just now, that was the same percentage as 'Over the Hedge'... although I suppose that could also mean I should head over and see Over the Hedge at some point.

The opening of the review in a local paper (which gave it 2.5/5 stars) was: "The makers of Doc Hollywood called. They want their movie back."

Anyways, hopefully I'll have a chance to see Cars this weekend at some point... at which point I can finally stop speculating and just write a review.

It makes me want a car.

Not to drive but... like a pet or something.
I left the theatre squeeling... They were so cute!

It was awfully sappy in places, But it scores better than Bugs Life (for me at least...) Visually awesome. AND SHO CUTE!

hehe. go write reviews guys. that's the only way Cars (http://keyframeonline.com/Animation/Cars/35/) will ever get any kind of star-rating. :D

I have to admit that I am so uninterested in this movie that I'm not sure why I'm even posting here.

And I felt the same about Chicken Little.

Basically, I'm not too happy with the state of American Animation today. Computer animation still hasn't caught up to the look of traditional cell animation. Send Studio Ghibli over here to teach Hollywood how to make a good film with beautiful visuals, please.

Maybe I'm grumpy because it's late. :irked:

No, I hear you...
When was the last time you went and saw animated movie that just blew you out of the water...?

I want less glib and more awe.

And before anyone blames 3D... watch The Cathedral (http://keyframeonline.com/Animation/The_Cathedral/257/) sometime and then tell me awe cannot be created in pixels...
