Warner plans on doing a live-action/CG animated film for Yogi Bear (link (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081002/film_nm/us_yogi;_ylt=AnqEYTw8ngjMI.Y.oDKU0PEwFxkF))

Same techniques as Alvin & Chipmonks movie. There's been a lot of poor Yogi Bear work done after the original series ended.

I am a little confused by the article saying the Fox's 2007 "Alvin and the Chipmunks" was a ... err, hit?

If it was a hit, we're in real trouble...

Alvin & the Chipmonks had the second highest US revenue for animated films for 2007 (only Shrek the Third did better) and it ended up being the 9th best revenue film for 2007 (and it is number 11 on the all-time revenue list (US) for animated films). It pulled in $11M more than Ratatouille did (although Ratatouille did much better in the worldwide revenue). For revenue purposes, it was a major hit for Fox (also the highest grossing film domestically for Fox that year) .

...and when I showed it at my library, it drew an audience of 75, breaking both previous records. (Cars and The Incredibles both drew crowds of 65 to our little screening room.)

It's cute, it's got good music, and kids love it. What can I say?

I haven't watched Alvin & the Chipmonks movie yet. Given that used copies of the movie are available, it might be worth getting the DVD if I can find a copy for less than the price of a matinee ticket. It can't be worse than Sharks Tale or Happily N'Ever After (and I own copies of those).
