jazzing up the Cast/Crew pages

Did a quick little thing this morning where I added the 'Highlight' box to the People pages... so now if you look at the page for say Bill Thompson (http://keyframeonline.com/CastCrew/Bill_Thompson/9/) you get a highlight box for one of the profiles that he has a credit in.


Question... there's a currently unused Bio field on the database for "People"... think it's worth adding? Would any of the editors be interested in the ability to write mini-bios? Maybe just for some of the major players...?

That would explain what was happening to the profile of Ub Iwerks when I look at a little earlier. I was most likely looking at it during the update, but before its completion.

I think that some bios would be worthy of note, especially the major players. I did a short essay on Tex Avery for my second year at animation, so that's one place to start.

I noticed that when I was adding Waikiki Wabbit and thought it looked good.

As for the other idea, can't hurt. Remember also I have that big database of 'on this day's which I compiled last year, which includes birthdays (presumably by coinicidence Starlac added a Yosemite Sam cartoon just now, on the anniversery of his first film)

True... we'd need to be able to tie those birthdays into the People profiles somehow.


btw, did you want me to re-instate 'On This Day'? The data is still there, I just took it down after you left last year since I knew I probably wouldn't get around to updating it myself.

Yeah, just a coinicidence, while I do know the anniverseries/birthdays of quite a few cartoon characters, poor old Sam wasn't one of them (unless I subconsciously knew it).

Although saying that I suppose I could add Hare Trigger.

Just Something that Lupercal brought up that the database crash has since removed.

He noticed that the "highlight" for Michael Maltese shown only his Voice roles and not any of the films that he had written (which is the higher list). I tried his for Tedd Pierce and it swaps between his two voice roles.

This doesn't happen for people without voice roles, which leads me to believe that the voice category overrides the others.

Unfortunately, I just checked and Tedd Pierce's page is again cycling between his two voice roles and ignoring his writing credits.
