newsinfilm.com (http://newsinfilm.com/) has published a bootlegged trailer of the new DreamWorks film Monsters Vs. Aliens (http://www.keyframeonline.com/Animation/Monsters_vs._Aliens/941/), which was apparently unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con last week. You can find it either on their homepage or at YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIW1KS6XBpU).

Any thoughts? Personally I not convinced that this will add anything new to animation (or monster movies), and the butt joke at 17 secs didn't help as a start to the trailer.

I for one am not looking forward to this movie as the trailer makes it look really rubbish

Personally they lost me at the repeatedly screaming woman gag.

For extra weirdness, Escape from Planet Earth (http://keyframeonline.com/Animation/Escape_from_Planet_Earth/1143/) is also due to be released next year. Are we in for the B-movie year of animation?

Well we also have The Water Warriors (http://www.keyframeonline.com/Animation/The_Water_Warriors/38/) out next year, which according to its synopsis has aliens taking over a pond :eyebrow:, and then there is Hotel Transylvania; so we're in for at least three or four animated B-movies next year.

We're also in for a traditional 2D Disney film next year too, which intrigues me more at the moment. I just hope the team making it know what they are doing and that it’s both good and successful: maybe creating a small chance that it'll kick-start a degree of 2D animated features again.

Meh. Didn't do much for me. Looks like typical Shrek/Bee-Movie style Dreamworks fare.

I liked the animation on "The Missing Link" though.
