Back in my middle school days, I used to create my own "cels" as a pastime. Since I didn't have access to authentic animation supplies, I would substitute plastic overlays or overhead projection films as cels. I would hand ink the outline using fine-line sharpies and color the back with acrylic. Even though I never was much of an artist, the results were generally pleasing.
Perhaps only for the sake of nostalgia, I've been thinking about getting back into the hobby. However, since the quality of the Sharpie markers left something to be desired, I was wondering if anyone could inform me on what is traditionally used. Or if you create fan cels of your own, what would you recommend? I've heard great things about KOH-I-NOOR Rapidograph pens but given the price, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
[side note: My apologies for reposting. Unfortunately, I think the original was lost when the server was down yesterday.]
