'Little Otik' is one of the Jan Svankmajer feature films I didn't add when I was editor - partly because I hadn't seen it, and partly because (from what I'd read) it had a minimal amount of animation ciompared with his other works. 'Conspirators of Pleasure' is another I left out for the same reason - not enough animation - though I own this one and think it's great)

Well I saw 'Little Otik' on TV two nights ago, and let me tell you, it kicks bottom. It manages at the same time to be horrific, hilarious and downright weird. What a great film! I loved 'Conspirators of Pleasure' just as much, but that was when I had the chance to add itr to the database. This time I don't.

How can you not love a film about a couple with a cannabalstic baby which started life as a tree stump? It's fall-down funny, and skin-crawling at the same time.

What sums it up for me (and this is paraphrased) is when a middle-aged couple come out of a cinema, having watched an apparently 'art house' film.

She: that was disgusting
He: Why can't they make movies about normal people like us, who don't go out.
