Ollie Johnston

I guess those who would be interested already know, but it seems wrong not to record here the passing of Ollie Johnston - the last survivor of Disney's 'nine old men'. He was 95 and a directing animator of Disney shorts prior to 'Snow White'.

That is a terrible shame.

A while back I bought for myself the DVD, Frank and Ollie (http://www.amazon.ca/Frank-Ollie-Theodore-Thomas/dp/B0000TAYSO), which details their careers and their very close friendship. It was really interesting to see their animation process and hear about their days at Disney.


They will both be missed...

I remember hearing Ollie Johnston speak at my school. He took us through all the basics of Disney animation and pointed us toward The Illusion of Life (Not that it was needed. Most of us had already read it cover to cover). He was easily the best speaker we ever had.
