Question that came in via email...
I was curious to know what the status is on bringing "The Mouse and His Child", to dvd? This is an amazing classic and I would love to get this magic back on the tube. I have not seen this amazing movie since the 80's and would love to own it again. Guarantied if this movie was re-mastered on DVD it would have great sales. I can not find even an original vhs for less than 70 dollars. Please let me know if there is anyway to get a copy of this great classic movie.I don't have any info as to when this will be out, but I thought I'd query our Keyframe brain trust...
anyone happen to know?

Actually, I've no clue on that (I'll admit it - I've never even seen it, but I've heard of it.), but I betcha someone's got it up on YouTube or something. Check it out, perhaps?
But this may be a bit off-subject, but I've heard that a new company has gotten the rights to release the two Unico movies ("The Fantastic Adventures of Unico" and "Unico in the Island of Magic") on DVD within the next year or two. And yes, we'll finally get the subbed and dubbed versions together . . . at last. (IMO, it would also be nice to see the pilot Unico episode too, "Black Cloud, White Feather" . . . Unico's full form was wonky in that one, not as pretty as in Fantastic and Island of Magic.)
But other than that, I know nothing.

The only official DVD of The Mouse & His Child that I know of was released by Sanrio as part of their classics range: the unfortunate part of this is that it is only in the original Japanese with no subtitles. I've heard of no plans for an English release, either here or the USA, etc. The only hope you might have in the immediate future is to find one of the increasingly rare VHS copies that are out there (like I did), find a bootleg of uncertain quality, or hope someone uploads it to youtube.
Yes, the two Unico films have been lisenced for English distribution by a new company called New Galaxy Anime (http://www.newgalaxyanime.com/). It's of no interest to me personally, since I’ve brought copies of the two films that were part of, guess what, Sanrio’s classic collection. I’m planning to capture the video of off them and dub the English version’s soundtrack over the top (I grabbed it off Youtube).

Wow . . . that's a boring site. XD
But I like Unico. I've only seen the movies in Japanese (no subtitles either!) as well as the pilot episode. It's not too bad, but it's hard to not feel for a cute little unicorn like Unico in the end.
I'm actually curious . . . how is the dub for the films? I've only heard bits and pieces of voice clips from the US version, but the site I heard them on has been long gone. (I actually can't wait for this to get on DVD . . . hopefully they won't redub it!)

The dubs of unico are still up on youtube so you can see for yourself: I'm still yet to make my mind up, partly because I haven't really watched the dub yet (mostly because the videos are so washed out).

Ooh, I'll be sure to check that out! Is that the JP or the English dub? (I'm blocked on it at the computer I'm using . . . GAH.)
