Is there any way to find out the frame rate of popular american television shows?

Things like Spongebob, Xiaulin Showdown, Jake Long etc.?

I've googled but I can only seem to find the frame rate on the video games (if the shows got one).

I couldn't tell you with 100% certainty, but my best guess would be 15fps.

Disney feature animation used to do 24fps and crappy early TV animation like the Flintstones was around 12fps... but I seem to remember that 15fps was the standard for modern TV, but I'd want to double check that with someone who has been in school more recently than I.

I think athena's right...15 fps is usually the average 2D animation rate. Although these days, with the advent of computer technology, things can be different. For example Flash animation is behavior-driven, so I'm sure it normally has 30 fps or more. 3D animation is pretty much the same way.

But as far as standard television cartoons, 15 fps is probably your best guess.

I believe most hand drawn stuff is animated on "2s" (12 fps) but I think the output is 15 fps.

Even if you're animating on 2s at 15fps, I think it's still considered 15fps. Plus there are instances when you'll drop to 1s... if I remember my 2D correctly, lipsync is done on 1s.

hehe... it's been like 4 years, so please forgive my shaky memory.
