Why do I get born too early or too late for everything?
New Tasmanian co. 'Blue Rocket' is producing its first animated TV series, 'Pixel Pinkie' about a 12 year-old girl who finds a genie in her mobile phone. The employment growth has led to the presumption that the industry will grow on this remote island. The show will be sold overseas next year.

God, it looks horrible. Everyone has to start somewhere, I guess.

I guess what hits me hard is the irony - in the 90's I spent years directed epic radio serials for no profit, and directing people how to do voice characterisations - and there had been nobody do anything like this for decades; I had to make it all up as I went along - and now my tinnitus and hyperacusis is so bad I can't wear headphones or do sound work any more, and finally someone is doing voice character work in Tasmania, and I'll bet some of the actors they use (assuming they use local actors) will be people I trained ten or twelve years ago - and I have to be content to sit back and not even be able to participate.
I wanted for so long for people to reinvent this, and when I did it myself, people I worked with were so enthusiastic, like they'd been waiting for someone to do this since they were kids.
All I can do is just be philosophical about it, and take the attitude that finally someone is doing voice characterisation for TV here, and hope that it's good, and try not to be selfish or sore about it, but I've been living with this regret so for so long, and at the moment this is bringing it to the surface, I taught people how to do this, and now that it's paying money, they can go do it, and I can't.
