This qualifies as more rumour and news at this stage... but there's a rumour currently bouncing around the animation news sites that Pixar is going to do a sequel to Cars in 2009.

If it's Pixar doing it then I say bring it on!

Well, I'd rather have an Incredibles sequel first but I'll probably go see a Cars sequel at the theater when it comes out.

i wouldn't. I didn't like the first one enough.

An Incredibles sequel, though--bring it on! What's taking them so long?

Brad Bird had an interview earlier this year (which I heard via a podcast) and he said then that he would like to make an Incredibles sequel but that he had not seen a suitable storyline for one. I hope that he finds one before he ends up being commited to another project.

My thoughts:

I'd like to see one highlighting Frozone. :D He was cool (no pun intended.)

And Dash really needs another super kid to be competitive with and make some of the swelling in his head go down.

Violet needs to break up with Howdy Doody and find someone with a little more personality.

Skippy killed off most of the old supers, and any new young ones have nobody to go to for direction and advice: that supplies Mom and Dad with a purpose:Super classes!

Jack Jack, naturally, is a walking disaster area.

And the world must still be full of normal people who are out to get superheroes.

Storyline? Phffft. There must be a few action-movie cliches they didn't use up in the first movie!

Bob and Helen go out to run a class for super-hero rookies (who have not yet attained the level of control needed for the new, government-imposed SuperHero License)

Meanwhle, Violet babysits for Jack-Jack and Frozone's baby. (He and the wife are off to China or somewhere, to pick up a kid they're adopting, whose parents were killed by Syndrome.) The boyfriend drops by hoping to make out/look at her pressed flower collection or whatever, and is totally freaked out by the baby superpowers, not to mention Dash's pranks. When he wusses out, Violet realizes she can do better than him.

Frozone eventually returns with a little girl who ends up being not only smarter in school and stronger than Dash, but faster. (Ha ha ha!)

Bob and Helen return with some severe uniform damage.

At school the next day, Dash and Orphan Kid compete to the point of nearly destroying the school (starting neighborhood anti-super protests) and Violet breaks up with Mister Popular Nice guy.

Bob and/or Helen take their uniforms in to be repaired by Edna, only to discover she is missing.

It seems that a group of terrorists has kidnapped her in order to force her to create super-proof suits so they will be able to terrorize, safe from super-interference. The leader's son is a super himself, not to mention a sexy bad boy. He is testing the suits' invulnerabilities. (Violet will eventually develop a fierce crush on him, before rejectiong him for a clumsy but good-hearted super-rookie)

The Incredibles and the Frozones investigate Edna's disappearance, and have to defeat the army she outfitted as well as rescuing her. Meanwhile, Dash learns not to be such an arrogant little twerp, all the super-rookies get in on the final battle, and the babies save the day in some amusing and unexpected way.

That's enough to get started on, don't you think? HEY BRAD!!! OVER HERE!!!
