I agree very much with Dogstar's statement, re 'Balto: Wolfquest'
Somewhere in “Wolfquest” there is a good movie dying to get out
In fact that sounds so much like something I would have said, that I'm tempted to go back and see if he nicked it off me (no offence)
When that film came out (in 2002, from memory) it was pretty much universally bagged, and I was out on a limb giving it 3 stars (if I remember right). And then when Balto 3 came out, I was in the minority by saying....'yeah, it was good enough I suppose' and giving it the same score), when it was immensely more popular than its predecessor.
I stand by what I said (if I actually did say it) at the time: Wolfquest aimed high and to a large extent missed. Wings of Change though, aimed very low and succeeded. But I still admire the fact that Wolfquest tried to be something new, rather than a repeat of the original Balto, notwithstanding its obvious faults - most glaringly it's hijacking of the end of the original film. Years on, I think Wolfquest is the better film.
I guess it's been long enough now that we can assume there won't be a Balto 4.
Oh, wait - didn't I just watch a clip of 'Fox and the Hound 2' on UTube? Now why the hell is that movie 50% more expensive than the original?
Anyway, I haven't seen the movie, but someone reviewed it and expressed their dismay with the 'Dixy' (dixie?) character seeming like Sasha from ADGTH. From the clip I saw, I couldn't agree more. In the annals of Disney this has to be one of the most obvious rip-offs since last tuesday.
