I can't help but feeling that there are some great Disney films not getting the attention they deserve.

Anyone here care to explain their hate for certain Disney films? I'm just curious.

Any films in particular that you feel are being unjustly snubbed?

For me there are certain films that set the bar... great music, stunning animation, huge emotion... these are the films that cemented my love of animation as a genre. So in some respects I almost expect more from a Disney movie than I would another studio... because I know that they are capable of great things... and when a film falls short, then it's that much more of a disappointment.

It depends on what it's about. I feel that many of Disney's newer movies, although they have stunning animation, do not have the heart that a lot of the older ones have therefore they automatically recieve a lower rating from me.
Also, as Athena pointed out, most of the time I expect more from a Disney film than from one that a different studio has made.

It's strange, because Bambi is the ONLY Disney movie at the top five. The Fox and the Hound had a brief stint on the list as well and then got pushed towards the bottom. I would love to see on the list again, but it might be hard considering how many people have reviewed it already.

All the other movies are either too old for people to remember or too old fashioned for many to care for. Or they're too jokey, hip, and modern. The rest that most people love, the movies of the 90s like Beauty and the Beast, surprisingly don't have enough reviews.

I guess most people that come here just like different kinds of movies than Disney.

Oops... we have a new leader. Beauty and the Beast just pushed Bambi out of position. Bamibi is in fact tied with Secret of NIMH for 2nd place.

Yep. I just mentioned that in the other thread, so now what I said is no longer true. XD

hehe. It's busy in here tonight... actually I've noticed it's been busy on Keyframe all day--more members online than guests, which is unusual but very welcome.

A few more hot reviewing days like this and the Top 5's will really start changing. ;)

I got a few more profiles added, maybe I should review some things (like all the shorts I've posted) while I'm at it.

Would be nice to get a Top 5 list going for the Theatrical Shorts area, but we're going to need a few more people reviewing to get that...

And I trust all you enthusiastic Keyframers have mentioned the site to your friends--nothing like a little new blood to really shake up the Top 5 lists. :D

Haaha, sorry to say it but for a few reviews, most of mine lack the substance that the rest of yours have.

So... Even if i write more reviews, most of them say a lot less.

Some of them are just a couple of lines even, because everything I think has already been stated.

I don't know... maybe others have a different opinion on this, but I've never seen a problem with echoing statements made by previous reviewers.

I mean, for all intents and purposes, the rating system and the Top 5 is just a fancy way of voting for a particular piece of animation... lots of four star reviews, lots of people agreeing that this is a hot film... lots of one star reviews, lots of people saying this film should be dropped off the face of the earth... so what's so wrong with re-stating what other people have said in their reviews? Not a carbon-copy obviously, but I know there have been times when I've written a review--particularly a low-star one for a popular film--when I wonder, "am I the only one seeing these flaws?"

And if you want to mix up you review, rather than having it all just an agreement with what someone else said, then put in the big "why?"... everyone thinks differently--that's why I love reading reviews so much... so even if you and I agree that this film is the best thing since sliced bread, how you got to that place is probably going to be different than me... what parts were the most jaw-dropping? what had you on the edge of your seat? Or, with a bad film, what parts you would axe? Maybe even how you would've made it better...

just my two cents.
