Finally got my hands on my own copy of Charles Solomon's epic 'Enchanted Drawings: the History of Animation' a little while ago. Used to have it on pseudo-permanent loan when I was in my town's college.

Of course when it says animation history, what it really means is western (esp. US) animation history. From the McCay Gertie shorts right up to Disney's The Lion King.

Also got a copy of the book 'Hanna-Barbera Cartoons' which has their cartoons chronologically listed at the back, I'm trying to work out the old parent/child problem, but its still not yet clear to me.

You mean in terms of profiles?

Sort of, it's a case of what happened when a character from a show got their own. For example when Yogi Bear got his own show and his slot in The Huckleberry Hound Show was filled in by Hokey Wolf.

And the 1hr, 90min, segment shows which were later split up and sydicated, or not.

I'm just trying to work out a way to make this chaos seem coherent and steamlined. To work out what shows are true standalones and which were only ever part of a bigger set.
