I don't think I need to point out to anyone here that TV blocks dedicated to or emphasising animation have often been mixed bags, so does anyone have any horror stories of the most ineptly put-together (from an aesthetic viewpoint - doubtless many of these scheduling decisions show business sense if nothing else) cartoon blocks?
My vote - ITV's Toonattik, on weekend mornings. I mean, look at this stuff:
(the site plays a tune on load-up, for those of you who want to keep quiet)
http://www.toonattik.tv/whatson/dc:13060/
Okay, sure, Avatar (http://keyframeonline.com/Animation/Avatar:_The_Last_Airbender/495/) and Spongebob (http://keyframeonline.com/Animation/SpongeBob_SquarePants/326/), that's fine by me. Oban Star-Racers isn't bad either. But... three episodes of Yin Yang Yo? And Power Rangers? I'm not sure if that even needs to be on TV at all, let alone in an animation block.
That's just the current line-up. At other points in time the block's shown such quality fare as American Dragon: Jake Long (http://keyframeonline.com/Animation/American_Dragon:_Jake_Long/542/), Winx Club (http://keyframeonline.com/Animation/Winx_Club/653/), Bratz and Biker Mice from Mars. Yowch.
My award for oddest line-up, meanwhile, has to go to Channel 4's wildly inconsistent kids' block, which has shown everything from the 60s Spider-man (http://keyframeonline.com/Animation/Spider_Man/466/) to a Yuri Norstein marathon.
