View Full Version : Sequel Specifications . . . and Midquels

Really, what makes a sequel . . . a sequel?

I know the basic stuff:

- continues with the original story (or tries to anyway)
- usually has offspring (a basic must in many sequels); one of them usually shows similarities to the main character (looks, personality, actions, etc.)

Gah, I can't think of anything else. Anyone want to add on to this?

But now with the addition of midquels (movies that take place in between events of the original), are they really worthy of being considered as sequels?

Please tell me what you think. I'm curious about this.
