The Rottentomaties Worst of the Worst list is based on reviews that film critics gave the films. Every film on the list had at least 40 reviews. None of the animated films on their list showed up on this sites Top 5 Worst List because there aren't enough reviews of any of them to be considered. Back to the problem of too small a population of reviews.
For me, it comes down to that there isn't enough time to watch the good films that I want to see (or money to obtain all the good films that I want to see), so I have no desire to spend time/money on films that look like real stinkers. The bad films/TV shows that I have rated have generally been watched by happenstance -- I don't generally go out of my way to watch badly done films/shows. Since most of us on this site are not professional critics, I would imagine that many of the others on this site are in the same boat.

Keyframe's Worse 5 are with their Rotten Tomato percentage are...
1) Bakshi's Lord of the Rings (50% rotten)
2) Dinosaur (63% fresh)
3) Polar Express (56% rotten)
4) Final Fantasy: Spirits Within (44% rotten)
5) Shark Tale (34% rotten)
Everything on their Worse of the Worse list scores under 9% rotten... all the films that are from our list are scoring much higher than that in terms of their rotten percentage. I mean, Dinosaur even squeaks in as a fresh!
The one that really surprised me in terms of making their list was Doogal. I thought it was rather clever and really had no business being on a list alongside the likes of Catwoman and Glitter.

Well, Bakshi's LOTR got 7 reviews on this site, Dinosaur got 10 reviews, Polar Express 5 reviews, Final Fantasy 8 reviews and Shark's Tale 16 reviews. Once again, a relatively small number of reviews. Also, our Best/Worst list is based on averages of all reviews. Rottentomatoes works on percentage of good reviews. A lot of our film ratings would be worse if we used this method (say, 3 or above is good and anything else is rotten).
And, of course, there is a difference in taste/point-of-view between a professional film critic and the average Keyframe member.

Dinosaur was generally liked by the critics and it did fairly well at the box office ($135.6 M), so audiences generally liked it. When I saw Bakshi's LOTR at the theater all those years ago, I was happy enough with what I saw then. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than anything that had come out up to that time. I think that the Keyframe members tend to be much more critical of animation flaws in a film than your average audience goer or critic.
The one that really surprised me in terms of making their list was Doogal. I thought it was rather clever and really had no business being on a list alongside the likes of Catwoman and Glitter.
Doogal was pretty much hated by the critics because, in general, they thought that it was simply a rip-off movie, trying to cash in on the 3-D animation trend, rather than being something original. Not only was it generally panned by the critics, but it did dismally at the box office (it did the the worst box-office business of any of the widely-distributed animated films in 2006). So, audiences weren't particular thrilled with it either.

Speaking of lists, it seems that Animenfo.com has a list of the top 200-ish animes (http://www.animenfo.com/statistic/top.php?type=anime), updated every 15 minutes and based on site ratings.
I see some pretty memorable stuff in the top echelons, but I also see a lot of brilliant stuff that's been bumped further down the list in favor of stuff that really isn't worthy but probably better hyped or trendier....
