I'm a sucker for consistency so here we have a new forum topic area to support or newly minted 'Theatrical Shorts' section... a great place to talk about your favourite short film and perhaps prod our growing army of editors to add it for you. ;)

Athena, do you plan putting up those Looney Tunes compilation movies from the 1980's ?

hmm, I'd want Starlac's opinion on this as well... I'm not familiar with these movies in particular, but my sense is that if they're compilations of previous shorts that we're likely already going to be listing, it would be pointless to add them twice.

Only "The Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner movie" is strictly compilation. The others actually have a story, with old cartoons used to move the story along.

In much the same way as the Simpson's Clip shows have a story.

In essence about 80% of the footage used in these films are taken from the original shorts, and then edited to fit in with the rest. The end result IMO is mostly a confusing mess which doesn't flow that well. The Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Movie managed to avoid this pitfall by just having Bugs introduce the shorts.

Warner Bros. released them as Feature Films and tried to pass them off as such. Not that it did them much good as I think almost (if not all) of them bombed at the box office.

With the Golden Collections out, I wouldn't give these films the time of day. Although it would be fun to give them a piece of my mind.

Oops, just a heads up - the theatrical shorts top 5 doesn't have a link in the top 5 page header.

I don't think "QuackBusters" was a confusing mess, it flowed almost flawlessly. The right shorts were used and there was alot of new animation, so it was a bit more then a compliation movie.

Okay, thinking about it, I'll give you that one.
