Atom Ant may not have been as good a standalone show as Secret Squirrel, (we only had them as separate shows in Australia anyway), but when the hour-long version was in its 2x30min version, he took the better backing shows with him. Precious Pupp and Hillbilly Bears were more memorable than Squiddly Diddly, and Winsome Witch, as evidenced by the humber of search hits we get for them (Precious Pupp outpolls the others by a wide margin, if you're interested).
Winsome was, sadly, the weakest of the lot, and though she was a fair way from awful, she was kind of a nice, recycled version of Mad Madame Mim from 'Sword in the Stone'. She lived in the forest, where she confounded the Brothers Grimm by being nice to children rather than cooking them, and generally riding about on a broomstick being an eccentric old lady with magical powers. Sort of like a be-warted, geriatric 'Bewitched'. Her magic words were.... oh, Lord... what were they? Well, they were an obvious variation on Madame Mim's anyway.
Winsome wasn't a bad show altogether really , but of the six shows which made up the Atom Ant and Secret Squirrel show(s), I always thought she was the least interesting.
