Wackiki Wabbit is one of the weaker early Jones Bugs Bunny cartoons, what hurts the short is Bugs opposition. A good opponent for Bugs usually has some trait or some advantage agianst the rabbit, the two guys in this short have really nothing to offer. They are just two poor slobs who need something to eat, which results in a rather bland short. Some of the gags in this film were funny but most were pretty much flat. Jones did alot better in this early era of Bugs like "Super-rabbit" or "Case of the Missing Hare".

Classic 40's Bugs Bunny - right? Wrong. This is a tedious, predictable, and basically stupid film. Two guys on a raft spy land and make haste, finding it occupied by Bugs. And guess what, they want to eat him. And guess what, he tricks them into not eating him. Oh, boy, I would never have predicted a plot twist like that in a Warner cartoon. It must be only about the 149th time they'd used it.

Unless you've got a fetish for Bugs in drag, give this a miss. The animation is boring too, except there are a few flourishes which kind of hint at the stylisation of 'What's Opera Doc'. The reason that this struggles up to 2 stars is because of the voice talent (though even that is well below par for WB), and the general production values - though even those are nothing special.

I suppose one plus is that this is probably the only short in which you'll hear Bugs Bunny pretending to be a Maori. So yeah, if you like bugs in drag, and have a thing for rabbits pretending to be Maoris, go buy it.
