Bugs Bunny is one of my favorite Looney Tunes characters, and this short is one of my favorites directed by Bob Clampett. In this cartoon, Elmer Fudd (a pudgy Elmer Fudd in this short) takes a vacation at Jellostone National Park, for some "west and welaxation" and Bugs deliberately messes around playing; jokes on him and such.

My favorite scene is when after Elmer hammers up Bugs' hole and Bugs opens the board like a door and mimics Elmer "That'll hold all wight (chuckling)." I also love the "play dead" scene, which involves a huge, Black Bear (not a Grizzley Bear, but a BLACK Bear); the facial expressions Elmers uses during the bear attack (either one) are priceless.

I am kind of surprised at the low grades this cartoons getting,"Wabbit Twouble" is no four star cartoon but it dose deserve a little more credit."Wabbit Twouble" begins as Elmer Fudd, hilarously traveling in a dancing car, finds Jellostone National Park to get some "west and welaxation" but Bugs Bunny decides to have some fun with Elmer. The gags in short were well done, sharp timing and excellent animation by the talented Clampett animators, a perfect example of this was when Elmer was being chased by a bear through the woods.

The downsides of this cartoon actually came from Bugs and Elmer. Bugs is a kind soul that dosen't like to pick on anybody and is attacked when provoked, not so here. Bugs mercilessly annoys Elmer and he comes as more of a jerk, they were worse protrayals of Bugs, like in "Rebel Rabbit", but this still isn't the way Bugs should be.Elmer simply dosen't look right at all, he looks like less of a cartoon character and sticks out like a sore thumb.Overall, this short faults comes from the main characters but the gags can be quite funny.

Unfortunately this Clampett directed Merrie Melodies starts off mediocre and goes downhill from there. Elmer innocently turns up for a holiday at Jellostone National Park and is immediately beset by a malicious Bugs who does everything possible to make his life a misery. You could possibly explain this by arguing that Bugs and Elmer's prior relationship gives Bugs an excuse for this, but viewed as a standalone it just seems uncharacteristcally mean. None of this is helped by the fact that Elmer looks like a cross between W.C. Fields and Oliver Hardy.

There are some reasonably funny gags early on, but they seem to use them all up quickly, and by the end they're falling flat on their faces - except for one fleeting one - my favourite moment in the short - where Elmer decides not to take the tree with him.

Well below par, and for completists only.

I never been that keen on the antagonist style Bugs in all honesty, it just doesn't suit him. He's a guy who just wants to be left alone and only fights when someone attacks him first. Watching him torment Elmer is unsettling when the hapless human hasn't done a thing to deserve it. Another thing which is decidedly off is Elmer himself, the fact that he's put on so much weight; this redesign is utterly pointless and was very quickly rectified.

The gags don't wow me, and some barely make me raise a smile, in short, I don't like this short that much. Bob Clampett has made much better shorts than this, some really fantastic ones. However this one, to me, is nowhere near that level, in fact it's nearing the bottom of the barrel.
