Tweety and Sylvester is is one of the most famous pair-ups in cartoon history. There cartoons basically had a good record of being funny, but was this pair up a huge mistake ? Let's take a look at the characters as individuals.

In Sylvester's earlier appearences he simply loved to cause trouble, "Kitty Kornered" and "Back Alley Oproar" were great examples of this. He was pre-"A Wild Hare" Bugs Bunny, except that Sylvester simply was funnier with this personality. I might go as far to say that he rivaled the modern Bugs Bunny.

Combined with Clampett's wacky style and edge,Tweety was basically a sadistic bastard who loved to torture cats that tried to take him on. The best example of this evil nature was definetly "A Tale Of Two Kittys", Tweety may have had the old "I taught I saw a putty tat" saying, but you better think twice before taking him on. This brash nature of Tweety made him hilarious entirely on his on.

So was it a good idea to pair these characters up? In a way,yes because they do have good chemistry. However,Tweety began to loose that edge he had in his old Clampett era as the years went by. Sylvester also somewhat lost his brash nature that made him a funny character on his own. Despite all that though, Friz Feleng managed to form a chemistry that has been sucessful for numerous cartoons.

In "Tweetie Pie", Friz once again used his great comedic timing to it's potenial. The factor of disturbing Sylvester's owner was icing on the cake.
