This is definitely a hard movie to review without giving away the best bits. I will say that I don't think I've ever seen a piece of animation that had so much outright fun with imagery and character design. Just watching the secondary characters walk by was often enough to get a laugh.
The Grandmother character is awesome. The Triplets' music is great. The dog is great. The explosive frog fishing is great--oops! see, already said too much.
I think my only complaint about this film is that it is a bit hard to follow in places. The extreme lack of dialogue is defintely refreshing technique but it does often cause the film to feel like it's lagging in those moments when you aren't 100% sure what's going on. Still this is a film where there is so much to look at that it tends to pick up again very quickly.
If it's playing in your hometown, be sure to check it out. If not, well it'll be out on video in May!
