Wow. To think Disney's first DTV sequel really wasn't that bad.

Sure the animation was cartoon quality, but give this a chance!

The story is basically about . . . well, the return of Jafar. Duh. But it's the telling of the story that is kind of good. Plus, the songs are kind of catchy. Heck, I, the one that is usually very nit-picky about good animated films, didn't complain about this! I believe that The Return of Jafar is a well-done sequel, although it would have been almost perfect if the animation quality would have been better.

And if Robin Williams were the Genie again . . . (Genie's voice was pretty close, but nothing's better than the original classic voice!)

Other than that, this was short, quick and enjoyable to watch. I think that if you like the Aladdin films and the TV series, you'll love this sequel.

Three stars.

Not the worst, but one of the worst. The animation was very bad, especially for a Disney film. The story could have and would have worked, but didn't. As someone did say though, Jafar's song is kind of catchy. :P
It may be good to keep kids entertained, but in no way does it compare to it's predicessor.

I disagree with the just-placed listing of this as one of the worst DTVs ever. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie because it was a sequel that made sense, as opposed to others that I shall review momentarily. I think if you enjoyed either the movie or the series, then this is for you.

The previous review pretty much summed up my opinion, but i wanted to add one little note:

There is ONE reason only to bother seeing this film at all, and that's Jafar's song, 'You're only second rate' which is actually rather catchy, and not included on any of Disney's music collections to date, as far as I'm aware. There's a somewhat amusing scene or two when Jafar's lamp is first found and someone tries to get some wishes out of him, also.

But really, just fast-forward over the rest of the film. You'll save a valuable chunk of your life.

This was the first Disney movie that I ever watched in which, when the credits rolled, my first thought was "Wow... that was really, really horrible." You'll see better animation on Saturday morning cartoons. The songs are painfully cheesy. No Robin Williams as the Genie. And story? Don't ask. Or better yet, just don't bother.
