This rendition of the famous holiday classic, The Nutcracker, is by far one of the best animated attempts by anyone. If you're familiar with the play, you come to grasps with the characters easily. The story is mainly about a teenage girl, Clara, who stumbles across her Uncle Drusselmeyer (and no, they're not related) oldest toys, the Nutcracker. But this is no ordinary nutcracker, as Clara soon finds out, and as you get deeper into the movie, the story unfolds like it does in the play, with a little bit of hindering from time to time.
I'm a huge fan of Tchikovski's music, so it came to no surprise that I found the score in the film much to my liking. The song that Clara sings is by far, my favorite song in the movie.
The animation's not bad itself. Clara's look in the film was one I adored throughout the movie. My only complaint was that the animation in the flashback part where Drusselmeyer is telling the story of the Nutcracker wasn't as I expected it to be. Well, I'm not complaining much. It did do the scene some good, being that it was in the past.
If you can somehow manage to find a copy of this film, I urge you to do so. I guarentee you'll love it.
