Although all 13 episodes were shown here in Canada, I wish more had been produced. I always assumed that what killed it was not showing Native Americans in a good light, or the gun fights, or the Civil War stuff, but the fact that it was a European show that depicted an American heroine. It certainly had a slicker, more stylized, European look to it, and I thought that perhaps Americans weren't crazy about that.
Maybe a bit of both killed it. I remember watching one episode that opens with the hanging of a Native American. My mother walked in on that scene, and was shocked that that was shown in an animated series.
Nonetheless, I always loved it. It was unconventional, but totally enjoyable.

Chalk this one onto the board as yet another cartoon killed before its prime. However, this poor show probably earns the record of being the fastest killed cartoon in history. Why? It probably dealt with issues too much to handle for the era's PC parents. It talked about the Civil War era. It showed Native Americans in a good light. It showed Caucasians in a bad light. And gasp! It wasn't afraid to show gun fights. Hmm. Come to think of it, there wasn't much in this show that hasn't been done before. But it did have deep characterization and great plots. So it's hard to see why this wasn't at least allowed to run until the full thirteen episodes that were originally planned. At only three episodes out of the gate when this show was created, it's hard to tell how far or how great this show could've become. But I reckon what was aired became a landmark in animation. Too bad nobody has plans to revive the series or at least put it to dvd.
