I'd completely forgotten about this series. It must have aired here in about 1988, and I remember tuning it on and thinking "what the hell is THIS?" Of course I hadn't been exposed to Martin Short's Ed Grimley character on the Canadian show or Saturday Night Live. All I knew was there was this totally strange looking guy who kept saying things like "I'm feeling alright, but I think I might be going completely mental, I must say", and wringing his hands. It sort of slapped me awake because it seemed to me at the time (and it still does) that it was about the first cartoon series of my lifetime which seemed to be aimed at adults at least as much as kids. This was born out by the ratings apparently (I hadn't seen 'Mighty Mouse: the New Adventures', which was a year older, and would probably trump this as the first of the new breed)

My memories of the show are sketchy, and mainly consist of my just laughing at this totally strange character, and wondering how the heck something so demented ever got on in a kid's afternoon timeslot. My rating of three is based mainly on my recollections of enjoying it, rather than on anything specific that I could single out. It may not have been as good as I can remember, or perhaps it was even a little better. My hunch is I'll never find out...
