Actually it's not that bad. I'm giving it an extra half star because it was well made, quite clever, and has broad appeal without being especially dumbed down or unwatchable to adults.

This film came out when I was night manager of a video store in the late 90's, and I used to put it on the house video very often in the early evening (I had to explain to other staff that 'Pulp Fiction' at full blast was not a great idea when parents were bringing their 5 year-olds into the store, to pick a kid's film).

So I probably saw this movie 20 times, but without ever paying excrutiating attention to it. But I did come away from it with an overall impression: it's a friendly, warm, family-friendly film, which doesn't fall into the horrible pitfalls of many animated films of its era. It's not something I'd want to own, but it's sweet without being sickly, and I can recommend it to your kids, at the same time guessing that you won't feel like ejecting it and watching an episode of 'The Sopranos'.

Overall: certainly not a masterpiece, but not that bad at all.
