Animated Enthusiast | By far the first animation of Sonic that I look with serious desesperation. Kinda dissapoint me, since being truly an anime and a japanese production that exist based on the character (and prior to that pathetic trash called Sonic X). But since I'm not a Sonic-fan and I'm not familiar with the franchise, the character, the games and not having a base knowledge of the universe I can't say what the fans may tell about this (quit short) OAV. The story its fine, even trowing some deepness in the last part and probably a nice incarnation of Sonic (at least I din't hate him). But the fans will dislike the liberties taken, some appearences are more like cameos (Knuckles) and Metal Sonic it's just "ok". In fact, you can go farther and say that this is nothing more than a fast mini-movie where a casual viewer can be introduced to the "sonic universe" and watch some delicious animation (not impressive, but overly well drawn and conceive) and the fans may have a sour taste watching his fave characters in a entertaining action ride. RATE: 3 Stars. Not a great movie, but no doubt is fun, visually simple, but stuning and entertaining. Studio Pierrot and Geneon in his early years playin with fantasy visuals and frenetic movements before his "mega-sucess" (ehem Naruto). Maybe, worth a check. |
