Well, I was lucky enough to see most of this series (Toon Disney has shown most of the Silverwing series in movie form - probably a couple of episodes or so per film), and I will tell you this: it was really good.
The story is something different, and it makes me want to read the books that the series was based on. The whole story is focused on a young Silverwing bat named Shade, who did something that was forbidden: He got a glimpse of the sun. With that, the owls (who in this story, have authority over other birds and the outcast bats) send their wrath onto the Silverwings, forcing them to flee. When Shade gets separated from the rest of his clan, he goes on his own adventure, while meeting some new characters and learning secret plans among the way.
I really wish I could see the rest of this series, because it is well-told and this isn't your usual animal cartoon. The animation isn't perfect, but it suits the flow of the story. The backgrounds and music really do a good job setting the scene.
I think that if you get a chance to have this show shown on a TV station near you, check it out. I don't know if a DVD has been or will ever be released, but it should. "Silverwing" is a series that should not be missed.
3.5 stars.
