This is a Popeye short from the Famous Studios period, and in many ways its atypical. Firstly because it's quite good, and Famous weren't up to the standard of Fleischer - the studio they inherited. Also because of the concentration on the Popeye vs The Mouse theme rather than the fighting over Olive Oyl theme, it seems in some ways more like a WB short than a traditional Popeye one.
Jack Mercer gets to do less under-the-breath mumbling here than usual, but quite a lot of snoring. This snoring is so cacophanous that it drives his resident mouse to various measures to try to shut him up.
It's really pretty darn good for a Famous Studios short. Worth a watch.
