Santa Vs the Snowman is full of wild action and bizarre humor. The verbal humor seems to be geared mainly to adults...for example, while Santa checks his naughty/nice list on the computer at the beginning, he says, "Out of memory?! What's that mean? Young William Gates has just waltzed his way to the Naughty list..."
The story starts out with a lonely snowman having his only source of comfort--his flute--shattered by the supersonic passage of Santa's sleigh. When he comes to investigate the workshop and finds a new flute, he is caught and mistreated by Santa's hard-nosed security elves.
Gentle amd sensitive children may be upset by the violence of the Star-Wars parodic battle that eventually ensues, or by the grumpy Santa taking the controls of a flame-throwing war machine. I mus admit, I wondered myself if there was going to be anything Christmassy about this raher cynical tale of injustice and revenge.
But the end is perfectly cozy, so just enjoy the crazyness.
The animation is not too exciting--often, the elves look as if they are gliding around kicking their feet, rather than actually walking. But there is plenty of visual spectacle in spite of that.
The 3D elements were quite fun--the 3D falling snow was excellent, and the effect was excellent in most shots. As usual, it deteriorated somwhat when somethign poked or flew right out at you, but it's about as good as red-and-blue glasses will get you.
