You all know what Sagwa means, don't you? In Mandarin Chinese, it means literally "stupid melon head". Sheegwa means "watermelon," and "Dongwa" means winter melon. The name for this show, "Stupid Melon Head", describes it quite well.

Sheegwa was cute, I liked Dongwa's voice, but no plot whatsoever. No suspense, no excitement, and absolutely nothing that can save this miserable attempt at a good show. It's a kiddie show. The old episodes of Arthur far surpass this stupid melon head's cliches. It's all the same drudgery, no variety between episodes, and just a plain boring show.

7 year olds will like it. I will not.

As a cat-lover,I love this show. It's so cute with beautiful colors in the backgrounds, interesting characters, and great short stories that teach valuable lessons in the historical setting of turn-of-the-century China...I love shows and movies that are setted in Asia (China,Japan and India too), like "The Last Samurai" starring Tom Cruise, and also setted in Japan, and also the Chinese film "Ying xiong" or in English "Hero."

My favorite characters from the show, are Sagwa (herself), her best friend Fu-Fu the funny bat, and Sagwa's little sister Sheegwa (she's SO cute).

An easy match for PBS Kids' favorite, Arthur. Normally cartoons tailored just for young kids are not my thing, and some are frightfully dull and sugarcoated. But Sagwa is a surefire winner. Gently paced, intelligent, and beautifully animated to boot, it is a step above many "edutoons". It possesses a strong awareness of Chinese culture and language, which I think should be commended. It has wonderful plots, great characters, and great humor. Even if you don't like cats or don't have kids, you'll probably find that this cartoon's heart is very big.

Hmm, Sagwa.

I remember watching this show on PBS and really enjoying it! Even my mother watches it too! The characters (which are mostly cats, dogs, mice, and other animals, not including the many humans) are likeable and work well with the different stories that the show offers.

Plus, I think the idea of having calligraphy-writing cats is just . . . original and cool!

This is not only educational, but also an enjoyable feast for the eyes of anyone that likes cartoons. If you're looking for a show with beautiful colors, interesting characters, and short stories that teach valuable lessons in the historical setting of turn-of-the-century China, then Sagwa is the show for you!
