Sometimes when I add a profile to Keyframe there's a plan--deliberately hunting down a particular piece of animation. Sometimes though, like tonight, I just stumble upon something that I know I've GOT to add right away because it's too good to pass up.
I was in my early teens when this first began airing on Fox. I had grown up on Disney's Peter Pan--among my favourite tales as a kid--and so this series was initially a bit of a shock to the system. For one thing, this Captain Hook is nothing like Disney's simpering, whiny, cowardly Hook. When Hook goes on an angry tirade--as he frequently does--it'll raise the hair on the back of your neck. Hook is nothing short of *vicious* and giving the show such a strong villian made it that much more interesting as a whole.
The other thing I remember about the series is that there were no two-bit characters. It's a fairly massive cast by the time you fit in Peter, Wendy, her brothers, the Lost Boys and all the pirates but as the series progressed all the characters were fleshed out.
It's been many years since I've seen the show but this is definitely one that stands out in my memory.
