I like the Bugs vs Wile E. Coyote cartoons, better than just the Coyote/Roadrunner cartoons; I also love the Chuck Jones/Phil Monroe collab that was in this cartoon too. I love the "OH NO!" take Bugs does, after Wile tells him "I am going to eat you." And I love the ending, when Bugs gives the moral of the story : "M.U.D. spell backwards is D.U.M."

Being an interest in Folklore, and hearing on the commentary for this cartoon, there are some parallels of South-Western Indian folktales of Coyote, the trickster, and a very pround and smug character; and the African-American folktales of Br'er Rabbit & Br'er Fox (post-modern take);only instead of snare traps, and tar dummies, The Coyote uses high expolsives.

Operation:Rabbit was a strong effort and memorable for the first encounter between Bugs Bunny and Wile E. Coyote. The thing that was so funny about Operation:Rabbit was Wile E.Coyote, his huge ego and constant praise of himself as a genius was hilarious, though it becomes increasingly obvious Bugs is too much for him. As with most of his shorts,Chuck Jones has razor sharp timing with his gags but they also come as a slight disappointment.Wile E. Coyote is cleary smarter them most of Bugs' foes but, with the expection of one or two gags,he falls for other tricks dumber opponents whould fall for.You whould think Bugs whould have to work extra hard to fight Wile E. but he really didn't.Overall, a solid film but it coudl have been better.
