This russian short could have been really good, but the uncatchy music and some problems with the animation made it impossible. However you can still watch it out of curiosity. It\'s not bad. Nevertheless I didn't find it as attractive as other pieces of animation that experience with the "dreaming thing".

This Soviet short had a lot of potential. It begins in very muted, sombre blues and blacks as a lone boy climbs the stairs of an apparently abandoned building, to his bedroom, where things become entirely black and white. He falls asleep and experiences a series of richly coloured, surrealstic dreams involving everything from six-eyed cats to jet-propelled elephants. As with the immensely superior 'Tale of Tales', the drawing style varies throughout the film, often looking more like a slapped-up oil painting than what we would normally consider cel animation. Unfortunately I can't say this film belongs on a DVD purporting to consist only of 'masters' of animation. It's whimsical and interesting and worth a look, but the very primitive animation and the failure to wring any real poignancy out of the subject matter ultimately lets it down.
