This one didn't warm up the fans of the original cartoon, due to very drastic differences, and as such it got cancelled after only 26 episodes. First complaint the fans of the original had. Gone are the magic and the battles with evil villains. Second complaint the fans of the original had. It's not ponies acting like ponies but ponies acting like people. I've even seen one person complain about realism or something. I mean what the heck does that mean? It's all talking pastel ponies who play games, live in buildings, and can hold paint brushes by some mysterious force. All this heat the show takes is really quite sad because this show is just different, and in my opinion, far more palatable than the original. Okay, so in the original they didn't drive cars, and the magic, fantasy, and danger is gone from this version. But this version holds a few advantages over the original. First, you'll notice that the animation is a step up from the original, which had many annoying mistakes. Second, the songs are more enjoyable too. This version has more wholesome and realistic messages for kids, too. Because the main characters are preteens and not adults or babies, this cartoon needed to have themes like going to school, taking on difficult choices, birthday parties, school dances, pollution, and dating. And speaking of the last point, you'll notice that this version actually has more believable families(i.e. there are more boys than in the original). That alone makes this cartoon just as enjoyable as the first. Of course the original does have its own charm too.
