I used to watch this show...until a certain person I knew who suddenly became obsessed with it (after I introduced it to her) unintentionally convinced me to never watch another Anime show again--AAAAHHH!!!!!

Like previous reviewers have said, it's an okay show. It has its ups and downs but it's not terrible. It does have that familiar screaming sword-fighting air to it. That does get on your nerves... I liked the earlier episodes than later ones. This series does seem to draaaagggg on forever. Now,the only thing I seem to look forward to in the series is the music at the end credits, but even they can be annoying since I don't understand a word of them.

So watch this show if you wish. It's not bad but it's not great(in my opinion at least...) either.

Inuyasha can be an interesting show when it's not being annoying or shallow. It is undeniably one of the most stereotypical animes out there, what with all the shouting, katana-weilding characters and the villains who are just pure evil because...well, that's just the way they are, I guess. Yet the series has its refreshing moments, and there are aspects to the plot that are genuinely original, or so it seems to me.

There are a heck of a lot of episodes. If you're seeing it for the first time I'd try to shoot for some of the earlier ones, because the rest of the series doesn't do much to explain why Inuyasha hates Naraku so much, why Kagome walks around hunting medieval-era demons in schoolgirl clothing, or why everybody's so obsessed with these "sacred jewel shards." But the series does develop a formula, so if you end up watching a later show it's not a big deal, because chances are it's otherwise not much different from the earlier ones. On the other hand if you're thinking of watching the show from beginning to end, I'd say you're a lunatic.

I agree with other reviewers about the writing. A good two-thirds of the fight scenes involve Inuyasha building up suspense and then using the same attack he always uses, basically hitting the earth with his demon sword and releasing some kind of flaming torpedo thing called the "Wind Scar" across the ground. Then the villain shrugs it off, everybody gasps and says, "He shrugged it off!", and they have to find some other way to beat him, usually involving Inuyasha getting mad and throwing himself at the villain, often with blue flames and stuff, until it dies. Then, in the future, Inuyasha continues to use the Wind Scar move and everybody continues to be shocked when it doesn't work.

On a lighter note, my favorite character might be Miroku. He has a lot of personality and his curse is a cool idea. His antics will make you laugh but when the going gets tough he's just as much a hero as anyone else. Also, Sango is a nice respite from the rest of the mostly-helpless female characters. My LEAST favorite, on the other hand, is Jaken, Sesshomaru's gobliny servant thing. He walks around shouting "Lord Sesshomaru" over and over in what almost passes as a Boston accent until it gets hard to keep your finger off the Power button on your TV. On top of that, he tends to get a lot of screentime, which is incredulous when you consider not only how annoying he is but also how utterly pointless.

In summary I do think Inuyasha has some truly interesting episodes. Many of the demons that appear are really unique and clever ideas. But beyond that there's nothing that really stands out about this show, so I wouldn't make a big fuss about seeing it unless there's nothing better to do.

Fine, I'll admit it, I used to be a fan *shudders*, but I came too my sense, about after the 120th episode. Alas, this is not an amazing series, or god-awful one. It is just run of the mill with way too many episodes.

Here is Inu-yasha in a nutshell. Half-demon and girl from the future team-up to find shards of a powerful jewel. Meet other characters. Half-demon always gets stronger and stronger, but not strong enough. Oh yeah, did I mention the obnoxious love triangle.

Seriously, this show has some major flaws. Simply every episode repeating itself, and nothing is ever resolved. Most of the characters are hollow and pathetic, especially Inu-yasha. The main villain, Naraku is doing the same thing Inu-yasha is doing. He is constantly getting stronger, but not strong enough.

Also, let's face it, the writing is in the toilet. The characters act like newscasters. For example, after seeing twenty shots of Inu-yasha strike a blow to the main adversary-du-jour. One of the characters will yell out "Inu-yasha struck a blow".

Anyway, I did not give this one-star and here is why... There are three complex and interesting characters. The show also has some cool original ideas, and the background animation isn’t half bad. Plus I like the historical aspect of the show. It loosely takes place in Japan's warring era.

So, if you are looking for something to make fun of, or show that does not require much thinking, wait no longer and watch Inu-yasha.

*Edit: I was looking through my old tapes, a few weeks ago, and despite this show's stupidity, I still have an odd fondness for it, so I revised my rating to two and a half stars.

This goes on the list of the most overrated anime in the US and Japan. It has interesting concept, thats what almost made me give it two stars, but it drags out for too damn long. Other then that, the character designs are mediocre due to an extreme lack of detail, the stories become very stupid after a short time and the personalities of the main cast and everyone else are like card board. It shows like this is basically the reason why I will not get into anime that much, the negative sterotypes of anime are quite visible in this pile of crap. I admit, I was addicted to this show at one point, then common sense pimped slapped me in the face.

Inuyasha is pretty much like all the other animes out there, with both the good parts and the bad parts. Find some demon with a shard in its body. Beat the snot out of it. Rinse and repeat for several dozen more episodes. On the plus side, the characterization is top notch, as is the maturity level. Even on Cartoon Network, this show isn't afraid to show blood or a high body count. It's not nearly as "talky" as Dragon Ball Z, nor nearly as mind-numbingly complex as some of the other animes that like to engage in serious psychobabble. On the negative side, the show's tendancies to end episodes on cliffhangers is really hair-pulling. But it's not like it's the only show that does that.

Inu Yasha is, like, the BEST anime cartoon ever. I love the comedy that is put into it and a most definitely love how Inu Yasha is totally in love with Kagomaru but he won't admit it and she likes him, too. It's today's little romance.
