Ahh, Homestar Runner...what can I say? It's one of a kind. It seems so long ago now when I first started hearing Trogdor quotations, and yet they still get passed around from time to time, or worn on t-shirts.
The Brothers Chaps have been doing this web cartoon for so long, and to such great success, that not all that long ago they were apparently able to quit their regular jobs and simply make their living off of merchandise sales. Personally I guess I can see where the popularity comes from, but the show seems stagnant. Mind you, I'm not saying that it has BECOME stagnant, I'm saying it was stagnant from the beginning. That's just the mood of the series. You have about five characters that live together in an area--I guess you could call it a town--with a population of, well, those five characters. Nothing ever happens. Nothing ever changes. Okay, there are a little more than five characters, but you seldom see more than four or five in any given episode.
I would have given the series only two stars, but it gets another half-star for its innovative use of internet capability. Homestarrunner.com is chock full of games, pictures, audio, episodes, and mini-episodes, and frankly I'm confused as to why more websites haven't followed this example. The web is such a vast media outlet; you can do so much with just a single theme. The brothers definitely had the right idea.
Anyway. Check out the Strong Bad e-mails...you have to click the little, far-too-small "sb emails" link at the bottom of the flash window. The really funny and classic episodes are in there, but they're about one in a dozen, so good luck finding them.
