World-Class Animation Critic
I couldn’t believe how harsh the critics were on this film. My brother saw it and said that it wasn’t as bad as it was being portrayed. So, I decided to see it on DVD so I could judge it for myself.

What was good about the film is the design of the characters. I thought that they were pretty well done (even the Evil Stepmother, big chested and all).

What was bad about the film: just about everything else. For a comedy, it had surprisingly few laughs in it: the 7 dwarves provided a chuckle or two but everything else was just flat. It’s like many TV sitcoms would be without a laugh track: you know that what was said was intended to be funny but it wasn’t.

There were no surprises in the film – the dumb characters were extraordinarily stupid, the storyline marched down to the end that everyone knew was coming and, when the movie finished, you had to wonder why you wasted time watching this. I lent this to a friend of mine who couldn’t believe that it was as bad as I said it was. He watched 20 minutes of the film and gave up. There’s simply too many decent films/shows out there to watch to waste time on this one.

It seems to me that this film should have been worth seeing at least once. The storyline had the potential to be interesting. But it just didn’t work for me.

I have loved fairy tales, and even as an adult I still love them (I'm 21 years old). I was shocked and surprised by the negative reviews I would see on the web, I thought this film is a great twist of one of my favorite fairy tales - Cinderella; like what if Cinderella's evil stepmother gets a hold of The Wizard's staff and takes over Fairytale Land? The Wizard is the one who makes sure every fairy tale has a happy ending; and what if Cinderella (or Ella in the film) doesn’t goes for The Prince (who is a pompous dumb ass), but Rick the kitchen boy?...and well technically in the original story, Ella was a nobleman's daughter until he married the evil Stepmother (Frieda in the film) and unfortunately died and Ella became "Cinderella."

I like a little twist now and then anyway. The animation and backgrounds are very pretty and the characters are appealing, and also the casting is very good too (even though Patrick Warburton can be a bit annoying as The Prince...sorry but it's true).

The two scenes I love is the battle at the Seven Dwarfs' house, and the musical and colorful "If I Get What I Want" scene.
