Another an entry in the "unrehearsed-audio-clips-set-to-animation" genre typified by Creature Comforts.
The short's visual style is sweet and understated. The character animation is spot-on - particularly the girl's body language as she narrates the story - and the sepia tones compliment the rather worn soundtrack perfectly. There are plenty of nice touches illustrating the story: Herodias is depicted as an oddly European king, while Jesus makes a brief appearence standing on a lake holding a fishing rod.
Give Up Yer Aul Sins isn't a didactic religious animation like Veggie Tales, and it's not truly a parody in the vein of Simpsons Bible Stories, either. Despite a mildly irreverent undercurrent, the short is ultimately a celebration of the cute 'n' innocent.
