The conflict between computer animation and traditional animation has often come down to the argument of quality hand-drawn style vs. fluid movement. As a Flash cartoon, Foster's Home has the fluid animation down pat. But its style is so refined that it leaves virtually all other Flash cartoons behind and almost transcends into a league of its own. Watch almost any amateur web cartoon and then flip on an episode of Foster's, and you'll see what I mean.

The idea is great, the characters are imaginative and endearing, and the episodes seldom fail to hold your interest. A recommended watch for anyone with some imagination to spare.

I've been waiting for this to come out on DVD so I could see what the fuss was about: and I was not disappointed. This is a very imaginative and visually unique program. Almost as funny as Invader Zim, but with less edge and more gross body-function humor. The characters aren't deep or dimensional, but are still appealing in their strange and extreme personifications: I must say that my favorites were Herriman, the uptight, micro-managing, rule-bound martinet of a rabbit who manages the place, and old lady Foster, the superannuated child who created him and started the home to take in abandoned imaginary friends.
The show's visual style is eccentric and highly ornamented. It's as if somene took the highly-stylized cartoon backgrounds from the 50's or 60's (was ithat style Art Deco?) and made them even more extremely flattened and stretched, with little curlicues added.
The animation is Flash, and it goes well with the drawing style. the stories are entertaining, and the more prosaic of them usually have some bizarre writing or surprise twists to carry them off.
All in all, I'd call it a show not to be missed.

The best animated series on television right now, without a doubt! I am sucked in from the very beginning to the very end! I am not quite sure what makes the show, the characters or the storylines. Both are very fun, witty, and unpredictable. The characters are colorful and interesting, but not at all cutesy and all have gotten out of character or had a their moment at least once! And the storylines are so interesting with a awesome pace and so much humour in between.

It has creative, amusing storylines, and every single character is interesting. EVERY SINGLE ONE. The animation fits the atmoshphere. NO FLAWS! Everything fits and is perfect! "Excellent! A Must-See-Series" is exactly what this series is! 4 stars flat!

This is a great little show. The art is really nice and the characters are fun. How rare is it these days to find something on TV that both feels positive and just a little crazy?

I've only seen a few of the episodes, but all the ones I watched were pretty good. The show has interesting little stories, good characters, and the animation looks nice. The main theme song it kind of catchy too. :P
For a newer Cartoon Network series, this show is one of the better ones out there.

While made by the same creative mastermind behind The Powerpuff Girls, I must acknowledge that this show will probably never achieve the pop culture status that The Powerpuff Girls had in its heyday. Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends simply doesn't possess its peer's wit, self-reverence, and resourcefulness of lines and situations. However, that doesn't mean the show isn't any good. What the show lacks in jokes it makes up for in superior animation and a brilliant sense of imagination. The visual style of the "imaginary friends" is somewhat reminiscent of "Where the Wild Things Are". The stories are more easily accessible to children of all types than The Powerpuff Girls' "girl power" premise. While some may chuckle more than laugh out loud when you compare this show with The Powerpuff Girls' wacky antics, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends is inherently sweeter and more character-driven. Plus I think Mac is just as cute as a button. I will admit that I was slow to warm up to this show because I didn't feel it was as funny as some of the best, even though it has more than its fair share of pop culture references. But therein lies the strength of this show. It's not about the jokes but about the personalities of the characters. And once you find yourself hooked by this show, it'll charm you episode by episode.

Very good!
Funny stories, good animation, nicely done!
Most of it doesn't look like a Flash cartoon. It looks hand drawn.
